Spectracom - Essential Ingenuity

Default BIOS date/time are displayed after each power-up

Question

Why is the default BIOS date/time displayed after each power-up instead of the acutal date and time?

Answer

The default BIOS date is shown when the Real-time Clock is unable to keep the correct time. Normally this is caused by one of the following:

  • BIOS (coin cell) battery may be bad.  TP69 should be around 3 vdc with a good battery installed.
  • ETX module was removed/reinstalled wihtout the BIOS being correctly configured.
  • The BIOS was not set correctly at the factory prior to shipment.

If the BIOS does not seem to be keeping the correct time, even after being set, please contact technical support for assistance.
