Front panel and Web User Interface show the IP address as "0.0.0.0"

Question

Why are the front panel and Web UI showing the IP address as "0.0.0.0"?

Answer

The IP address will be displayed on the front panel as "0.0.0.0" (as shown below) and also in the Web User Interface (UI), if the Ethernet port is not connected to a network hub, switch or a stand-alone PC:
 
all zeroes
 

Once the Ethernet port has been connected to another network device, the assigned IP address will be displayed in the front panel and Web UI:

Archive software update version 5.1.2 (and higher) also displays the IP address as "0.0.0.0" in the front panel and Web UI, if a cable is not connected. However, the message "Unplugged" will also be displayed (see illustration below).

In the Web UI, the message "Cable Unplugged" is displayed (see illustration below):
